Day 146 It's almost party time
This year S has chosen skateboards as the theme for his birthday party. I usually make their invitations, but I found these at Target and he liked them. So, now all I have to do is get them in the mail and figure out what to make for his cake...it will either be a skateboard or a skatepark. I have to start on E's invitations so I can get those out as well (they're having a joing party this year). He wants a baseball party so I'm making baseball invitations and his cake will be a baseball.
Day 145 This and that
As 5th graders, students can sign up to be on the safety patrol which is a big deal at school. The kids are responsible for raising and lowering the flags, assisting kids out of their cars in the morning and into their cars at dismissal. Several weeks ago, the 5th graders "trained" the first group of current 4th graders and then they trained the next group and so on. So, this week was E's week to train so that he's ready for this duty next year as a 5th grader. So, here he is raising the flag and assisting kids out of the car. The last picture is the spread that the teachers put out for the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast.

Day 133 Cleaning up
As I took my walk around the neighborhood this morning I noticed many a tree that was split in half from the storm last night. Luckily we didn't have any of that, but our backyard sure was a mess this morning. Piles of woodchips lay at the bottom of the pool and the surface of the water was covered in leaves and other assorted debris from around the plants. I spent a good hour cleaning out the pool and I know I'll have to go out there several more times today. We got 5 inches of rain last night and this picture shows the water level in the pool. Normally, the water is a good 1"-1 1/2" below that black "vent". The water was eerily warm today too.

Day 131 Best friends!
Today was the choir tour for the K-2nd grade Jr. Choir members. They performed at a Whole Foods store and two retirement homes before having lunch at a local pizza buffet. After we got back to school, the music teacher finished reading the kids a story that she started this morning before we left. So, here are S and his best friend G listening to the story.

Day 130 My project this week
This is our extra bedroom upstairs that is home to lots of stuff...my sewing machine, outgrown clothes, empty storage boxes, loads of stuffed animals, party stuff that never got put away and more. This picture only shows one side of the room, but the other side had a bunch of stuff piled up too. I finally started working in this room today and got one corner completely sorted and cleaned up. My goal is to get the entire room straightened up, get a bed and actually furnish this room.

Day 129 It's just what I wanted!
First I got some great homemade cards from the boys in addition to cards that they picked out with dh. My gift was this watch...it's a heartrate monitor, calorie counter and workout timer. Woohoo! I'll be using it starting tomorrow when I go to the gym. Hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day.

Day 127 Crazy mom
On Fridays I bring lunch to school for the boys and I sit with them and their classmates in the cafeteria during their lunch. Well today during E's lunch I was being silly trying to balance a mini skateboard on my nose and one of E's classmates took this picture with my phone. I guess I'll always be a kid at heart.

Day 123 A project
As part of an end of the year gift for teachers I'm putting together a summer survival bag. It's a denim bag that will have some fun stuff for summer inside. I normally paint the bags, but this year I decided to decorate them with some fun trim and then let the boys put rhinestones on the bags. So, I picked up this little "tool" and we'll start working on the bags this weekend.
